My father was a photographer. I grew up taking photos and watching him work. When I’m eleven I discovered my passion for capturing places and spaces. For finding the perfect angle, light and composition. For finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
From then on, my life became about photography. When I wasn’t on shoots or in the studio ‘assisting’ my father, I was trawling the streets of Melbourne with my trusty Rollei 35
20 years in the industry
I became a professional photographer the day I finished school. While I studied Photography at RMIT I paid my rent working in a Pro Lab as an Assistant and building my own client base. And the rest really is history.
The equipment and technology has changed exponentially over the years. But the craft itself really hasn’t. It is still about finding the perfect composition and lighting, and applying the technical skills I developed growing up on the darkroom floor. Today’s technology simply makes it faster and easier.
I capture what you want to convey.
I’m a listener. An observer. I ask questions and digest your answers. I see it as my job to capture the essence of what you want to share or showcase.
I then do what needs to be done to capture it. Sometimes this involves collaborating with stylists and other professionals. Sometimes it involves photographing a place or space at different times and in different weather.
I like to have you on shoots with me. You get to see everything that’s being shot. And, we work together
to perfect it.
STUDIO AND EQUIPMENT
I use state of the art equipment.
I invest in high-end cameras, lenses, lights and editing tools and have a wide variety at my disposal. I love shooting in natural light. I only ever use a tri-pod. And, I can tether to a laptop so you can see what I’m seeing.
I work out of Blue Tree Studios in Port Melbourne.
A 2,000 square foot photography and videography studio with full cyclorama, roller door access and most importantly abundant natural light. It has everything needed for professional shoots – hair and makeup facilities, high speed fibre internet, heating and cooling, kitchen and of course good coffee.
It’s 5 minutes from the CBD, 20 minutes from Melbourne Airport and has ample free parking.
I’m well connected.
Two decades in the industry means that I have an extensive network that I collaborate with – Videographers, Photographers, Stylists, Hair and Makeup Artists, Re-touchers and Post Production specialists. Through my partnership with Blue Tree Studios I deliver comprehensive visual communication services, including still photography and video communications.
